Iranian Parliament Speaker Says Era of One-Sided Agreements Is Over

Tehran: Iran’s chief negotiator and Speaker of Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has declared that the era of one-sided agreements has come to an end, amid ongoing regional tensions.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, Ghalibaf wrote, “We already said: either honor your commitments or pay the price.” He added, “Reality is now knocking at the door.”

Alongside his statement, Ghalibaf shared an image of Article 5 of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), highlighting a clause related to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The phrase “The Islamic Republic of Iran shall make the necessary arrangements” was prominently emphasized in the image.

His remarks follow renewed tensions surrounding maritime navigation and administrative control in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the claims referenced in his statement, recent hostilities escalated after disagreements between the United States and Iran over the management of shipping through the strategic waterway.

The latest comments underscore Iran’s firm stance on honoring bilateral commitments while emphasizing the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz to regional security and international maritime trade.
