MINA MAKKAH MUKARRAMA, May 29 (APP):More than 118,000 Pakistani pilgrims, alongside millions of Muslims from across the globe, performed the ritual of ‘Rami’ (stoning the pillars) on the fifth day of Hajj on Wednesday, demonstrating profound devotion and solemnity at the three pillars Jamarat al-Sughra, Jamarat al-Wusta, and Jamarat al-Aqaba.
According to the designated schedule, the majority of pilgrims will leave the tent city of Mina today after completing the stoning ritual on the 12th of Dhul Hijjah. Meanwhile, some pilgrims will opt to perform the optional stoning tomorrow, the 13th of Dhul Hijjah, before departing for Makkah. All pilgrims are returning safely to their accommodations under the direct supervision of their respective group leaders (Nazims) in compliance with strict discipline and regulatory frameworks.
To reach this final stage, the pilgrims successfully completed the primary pillars and rituals of Hajj over the preceding four days.
The spiritual journey commenced on the first day, the 8th of Dhul Hijjah (Yoom-ut-Tarwiyah), when pilgrims donned the Ihram from Makkah and proceeded to the tent city of Mina, where they offered five consecutive prayers.
On the second day, the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, the apex of Hajj Waquf-e-Arafat was observed. Pilgrims listened to the Hajj sermon at the plains of Arafat, offered combined prayers, and engaged in fervent supplications. Immediately after sunset, they departed for Muzdalifah, spending the night under the open sky and collecting pebbles for the stoning ritual.
On the third day, the 10th of Dhul Hijjah (Yoom-un-Nahr), pilgrims returned to Mina from Muzdalifah to stone the large pillar (Jamarat al-Aqaba), perform the ritual animal sacrifice, and shave or trim their hair (Halq and Taqsir) to exit the state of Ihram before heading to Makkah for Tawaf-al-Ziyarah. On the fourth day, the 11th of Dhul Hijjah, pilgrims stayed in Mina and stoned all three pillars in sequence. Today marks the final day to perform Tawaf-al-Ziyarah, the third foundational obligatory act of Hajj, prompting a continuous influx of pilgrims toward Masjid al-Haram.
Concurrently, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has deployed its welfare staff (Khuddam-ul-Hujjaj) around the clock across Mina, major thoroughfares, and exit routes to guide pilgrims back to their designated tents and accommodations. Additionally, mobile wheelchair teams have been stationed at key points and paths leading to the Jamarat complex to provide temporary logistical assistance, ensuring elderly and differently-abled Pakistani pilgrims are safely transported to and from the stoning site.
