New York: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has released its latest report on Pakistan to mark World Population Day.
According to the report, Pakistan’s population has reached approximately 257.2 million.
The report states that Pakistan’s future depends on the opportunities, decisions, and potential of its young people.
UNFPA noted that one-third of Pakistan’s population is between the ages of 10 and 24, while 76 percent of young people are optimistic about their future.
However, the report found that 53 percent of young people are concerned about security, economic challenges, and inequality. It also highlighted that youth living in rural areas without internet access face additional difficulties.
UNFPA urged greater investment in digital skills training and improved employment opportunities for young people.
The report emphasized that population policy is not simply about increasing or decreasing population numbers, but about ensuring people’s rights and freedom of choice.
