ISLAMABAD: A delegation of experts from the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) briefed representatives of Pakistani political parties and the media on Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building during a thematic session held at a local hotel on Wednesday.
The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) jointly organised the event, while Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani attended as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Gilani said the Pakistan-China friendship enjoyed a broad national consensus and described the session as a valuable opportunity for both countries to learn from each other.
Welcoming the Chinese delegation, he said Pakistan greatly valued its longstanding relationship with China and was keen to benefit from the country’s development experience. He added that bilateral engagement in economic and social sectors was steadily expanding, supported by the leadership and people of both nations.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong said President Xi Jinping and Pakistan’s leadership shared a common understanding of the growing importance of China-Pakistan relations in the new era.
He said Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building had been implemented throughout the CPC, providing direction for strengthening the Party and advancing China’s modernization.
The ambassador described CPC leadership as a defining feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics and highlighted China’s achievements in poverty alleviation.
He said China-Pakistan cooperation, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), reflected a people-centred development approach and had attracted investment, created employment opportunities and increased Pakistan’s power-generation capacity.
Jiang said China was prepared to work closely with Pakistan to implement the understandings reached between President Xi Jinping, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He also reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to advancing CPEC 2.0 and launching more projects aimed at improving people’s livelihoods.
Members of the visiting CPC delegation said the Party, which is marking its 105th anniversary this year, has more than 100 million members and maintains relations with over 800 political parties worldwide.
They emphasised that every country should pursue a development path suited to its history, culture and national circumstances. The delegation also expressed the CPC’s readiness to continue exchanges with Pakistani political parties in the areas of governance and party building.
