Pakistan cricket team meets PM Imran

Islamabad September 22 (Online): Pakistan cricket team on Wednesday met Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Prime Minister’s House.

The national cricket team is in Islamabad ahead of the T20 World Cup scheduled to take in October-November this year.

The sources said that the meeting with the premier is an attempt to boost the morale of the cricket team ahead of the world cup.

Imran Khan, during the meeting, shared his experiences with the national team players and acknowledged the high moral of the team. The sources said that the prime minister individually talked to every player and asked them to keep their shoulders high in the cricket grounds.

He said when the nation sees down shoulders of its players, feel disappointed and hurt. It also leaves a bad impression of the players.
The prime minister told the players that win or defeat is part of the cricket life but you should not accept defeat till the last ball.

Imran Khan titled the national cricket team as “Corner Tigers”.

Meanwhile, PTI Senator Faisal Javed said that the Prime Minister asked players to play offensive game against India during the upcoming world cup. He also advised selection of players on merit instead of giving preference to relatives and colleagues.

PM Special Assistance Shehbaz Gill said PCB Chairman Rameez Raja informed the players how they won 21 out of 22 matches against India in the leadership of Imran Khan.

Prime Minister also appreciated batting techniques of Babar Azam. He lamented that political orphan’s celebrated call off tour of New Zealand team.

The national team has also won a T20 world cup and the Champion’s Trophy, defeating arch-rival India in the finals.

The meeting between the cricket squad and the premier came days after the cricket teams of New Zealand and England canceled their tours.

The NZ team had left their tour hours before the start of the first ODI match in Rawalpindi whereas the England Cricket Board had called off the tour weeks before it began.
