Kriti Sanon Urges People to Prioritise Mental and Emotional Well-Being

MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has highlighted the importance of mental and emotional well-being, urging people to prioritise mental health and recognise that caring for the mind is as essential as maintaining physical health.

The National Award-winning actress said her experiences while working in the films Mimi and Do Patti changed how she viewed acting and emotions.

“Before Mimi and Do Patti, I believed that my characters did not affect my real life. However, these films made me realise that even when actors convince themselves they are unaffected, their roles can leave a subconscious impact,” she said.

According to Sanon, the emotional effects of a character sometimes emerge several days—or even a week—after filming ends, becoming visible through changes in an actor’s mood or behaviour. The experience taught her the importance of consciously detaching herself from a character.

The actress recalled occasions when she was experiencing emotional distress or difficulties in her personal life but still had to perform in comedy films.

“Actors constantly use and manipulate their emotions, which makes looking after their mental and emotional health extremely important,” she said.

Sanon recommended meditation, therapy and other activities that can help people remain mentally balanced. She added that she also practises meditation from time to time and has personally found it highly beneficial.
