BEIJING: China’s exports of integrated circuits nearly doubled during the first seven months of 2026 amid growing global demand for semiconductor products.
According to data released by China’s General Administration of Customs, integrated-circuit exports reached approximately $216 billion between January and July, representing a year-on-year increase of 99.5 per cent.
Experts attributed the surge to technological advances, improved supply-chain capabilities and rising international demand for artificial intelligence-related products.
They said growing demand for Chinese chips was expected to intensify competition in the global semiconductor market. Increased competition and supply could eventually help reduce the cost of automobiles, mobile phones, industrial machinery and other electronic products.
The chip-export boom also contributed to strong Chinese trade growth, with high-tech exports rising sharply during the period. Global Times and Reuters reported the latest trade figures.
