Emma sat beside her 84-year-old grandmother with a notebook and a mischievous grin.
“Grandma,” she asked, “be honest… how many boyfriends did you have before Grandpa?”
Grandma smiled, took a slow sip of tea, and said,
“Oh, sweetheart… enough to keep life interesting.”
Emma’s eyes widened.
“Really? Did they all write you love letters?”
Grandma nodded.
“They did.”
“Do you still have them?”
Grandma pointed toward an old wooden chest in the attic.
Emma rushed upstairs, expecting a treasure trove of romantic letters tied with silk ribbons.
A few minutes later she came running back, completely confused.
“Grandma… the chest is empty!”
Grandma burst into laughter.
“Of course it is!”
Emma frowned.
“Then where are all the letters?”
Grandma winked and said,
“Your Grandpa found them… that’s why he married me before anyone else could read the competition!” 😂
