Hanif Abbasi acquitted in riots case

RAWALPINDI, Nov 13 (Online): PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi has been acquitted in riots case.
The court announced the decision after five years of the registration of case in police station city against Hanif Abbasi.

The other accused in the case were Chaudhry Tanvir, Daniyal Chaudhry, Sarfraz Afzal and Chaudhry Ibrar.
All other accused except Hanif Abbasi were acquitted from this case.
Hanif Abbasi was charged with staging rallies against the arrest of Capt (Retd) Safdar.
The decision of the case against Hanif Abbasi was reserved two days back.
The decision of the acquittal plea was announced by civil judge Naveed Akhtar.
Rawalpindi police had registered case against Hanif Abbasi in police station city in 2018,

Talking to media men after acquittal, Abbasi said Mian Nawaz Sharif had said this when case was registered against him in 2012 this case is false. I stood in the court when sentence of 25 years in jail was announced. I kept on making rounds for 11 years in this case. I spent 11 months in jail.

He went on to say he was kept out of election and my daughter was expelled from job. My younger brother was kept under illegal detention for 11 days. I will contest election when Sheikh Rashid comes in election.
