Punjab IG puts province’s security on ‘high alert’

LAHORE – March 5 (ONLINE) Punjab’s Inspector General (IG) Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan has issued orders to put the security of province on a ‘high alert’ amidst wake in terrorist activities.

The IG as per sources has directed RPOs and DPOs of Punjab Police to enhance the security of ‘sensitive’ and ‘high risk’ points. These points include schools, public gathering spots and religious centers.

Rao Sardar Ali said intelligence based operations (IBOs), Search and Sweep operations must be increased in all districts. He also urged police force to make checking process more effective on all the check-posts of inter-province and inter-district entry points.

Ali ordered increase in time periods of patrolling of Dolphin force and other law enforcement agencies on public gathering spots. He said security arrangements for ongoing Pak-Australia series must be enhanced and supervisory officers must themselves keep a check on security and traffic arrangements.

On the other hand, Rao Sardar Ali took notice of a firing incident where two people were shot dead in Rajanpur. The IGP sought an inquiry report from the RPO of DG Khan and directed that all perpetrators involved must immediately be brought to justice.
