RAWALPINDI (APP): The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF)conducted six operations across the country and arrested six suspects,seizing 24.704 kilograms(kgs) of narcotics with an estimated value of more than Rs 3 million, an ANF spokesperson said on Wednesday. During an international drug interdiction operation at Islamabad International Airport, ANF recovered 2.026 kg of methamphetamine (ice) from the luggage of a passenger bound for Jeddah.
In a separate operation at Faisalabad International Airport, officials seized 878 grams of ice concealed in the luggage of a passenger travelling to Bahrain and arrested the suspect. In domestic operations, ANF recovered 14.4 kg of opium from a vehicle near the Northern Bypass in Peshawar and apprehended the driver. In another operation near University Road, Peshawar, authorities recovered 5 kg of hashish from a suspect. Separately, ANF seized 1.2 kg of hashish from a motorcyclist near Glotian Mor in Sialkot district, while another 1.2 kg of hashish was recovered from a suspect near Customs Chowk in Peshawar.
The spokesperson said cases had been registered against all the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997 (CNSA), and further investigations were underway.
