India ‘resilient’ to US pressures amidst Russian trade

NEW DELHI – August 19 (ONLINE) ‘Rejecting’ the American pressure, India has expressed its determination to import oil and fertilizers from Russia at cheap prices and to continue buying in the future, media reported Friday.

According to a news agency, spokesperson of the US State Department Ned Price said in response to a journalist’s question that India requires time to change its policies to distance itself from Russia.

Ned Price, however admitted that India cannot immediately distance itself from Russia. It will take time. America does not see the world as a “zero-sum game” in which one side’s gain equals another’s loss.

On the question of joint military exercises and purchase of air defense systems between India and Russia, the spokesperson said US recognizes that every country around the world makes decisions related to its security based on its own interests and values.
