ISLAMABAD Aug 20 (Online): President Dr. Arif Alvi denied signing the Official Secrets Amendment Bill and the Army Act Amendment Bill.
In a statement on social networking website X (Twitter), Arif Alvi said that God is witness, I have not signed the Official Secrets Amendment Bill 2023 and the Pakistan Army Amendment Bill 2023 because I do not agree with these laws.
He wrote that I had asked my staff to return the bills without signature within the stipulated time to render them ineffective.
Dr. Arif Alvi wrote, “I have confirmed with the staff several times whether they have been sent back (without signature) and I have been assured that they have been sent back.
However I found out today that my staff did not agree to my wishes and He went against the order.
He further wrote that Allah knows all, He will forgive in sha Allah but I ask forgiveness from those who will be affected by it.
