Journalist Khalid Jameel arrested under PICA Act, sent to jail on judicial remand

ISLAMABAD Sep 24 (Online): Journalist Khalid Jameel, who was arrested under the PICA Act, was sent to jail on judicial remand by the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad.

Islamabad-based journalist Khalid Jameel, who is associated with private TV, was produced in the court of District and Sessions Judge Mureed Abbas.
Advocate Naveed Malik appeared on behalf of Khalid Jameel.

During the hearing of the case, another 6-day physical remand was requested by the FIA.

FIA told the court that more details are to be obtained from journalist Khalid Jameel’s X account.

Khalid Jameel’s lawyer argued that such arrest of the journalist is a violation of the decision of the Islamabad High Court.

After hearing the case, the court rejected FIA’s request for further physical remand and issued an order to send Khalid Jameel to jail on judicial remand.
