At least three people have been killed and numerous others injured after a bus transporting Pakistani pilgrims crashed in Iran

Tehran (PNI) State media reported on Monday that at least three people were killed and 48 others injured when a bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims collided with a truck in southern Iran.

The pilgrims were en route through Iran to Iraq for the Arbaeen commemoration, which marks the 40th day of mourning for Imam Husain, the grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, the crash occurred late Sunday on the main road between Neyriz city in Fars province and Sirjan in Kerman province. The report mentioned “48 wounded and three dead” but did not disclose the total number of passengers on the bus.

Colonel Abdol Hashem Dehghani, a traffic police official from Fars, told IRNA that the accident resulted from a “technical failure” in the brakes and the driver’s “inability to control the vehicle.”
