LAHORE, Dec 01 (APP):More than 2.8 million people so far in Punjab have received free medical treatment facility through Sehat Sahulat Card.
It was revealed in the eighth meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Universal Health Insurance jointly chaired by Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Finance Minister Mohsin Khan Leghari at Civil Secretariat, in which Secretary Health Punjab Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, Secretary Finance Punjab, Special Secretary Department of Specialized Health Care and Medical Education Syed Wajid Ali Shah, CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr. Ali Razzaq, Dr. Shamshad Ali Khan, CEO Punjab Health Care Commission Saqib Aziz, Additional Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Care Department Muhammad Sajjad and other related departments participated.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Mohsin Khan Leghari reviewed the measures regarding universal health insurance during the meeting.
Health Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi briefed about the details of facilities under Universal Health Insurance.
CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr. Ali Razzaq presented a report in this regard.
During the meeting, the mechanism of payments to State Life Insurance under Universal Health Insurance was also reviewed.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid said in respect of universal health insurance, the Punjab government has paid its share of premium to insurance company.
Under the universal health insurance, the Punjab government would continue to provide free treatment up to one million rupees to all the more than 3 crore families of Punjab, she added.
More than 42,000 beds have also been increased in private hospitals under universal health insurance to provide better treatment facilities to the people of Punjab, she maintained.
For the first time in the history of Pakistan, people are getting free treatment facilities through health facility card, she asserted.
