BIRMINGHAM (PNI) Reminding British people of their responsibility entrusted by the history, Kashmir Declaration campaign was launched Tuesday in the UK.
The campaign aims at seeking pledges from the lawmakers who will be elected during general polls on Thursday.
More than 150 parliamentary candidates signed the declaration across the UK, according to a statement by Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK.
In the declaration, the British elections candidates acknowledge that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory while the demand for plebiscite of Kashmiris ought to be fulfilled according to the UN resolutions.
Besides, the successful candidates would raise the issue of Kashmir in and outside the Parliament and urging British government to raise Kashmir issue with India.
It came amid intense debate over Kashmir and war in Gaza during British elections campaign.
With a strong Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora, the British elections are expected to see a positive turn favoring Kashmir and Gaza.
Birmingham City is one of the main battle grounds between independent movement and Labour Party.
Independent movement has shaken Labour Party in inner city areas while track record of some Labour lawmakers have been “very good.” It will help them to attract voters towed them on 4th July.
Some of the important candidates who signed the Kashmir Declaration campaign include Jess Phillips (Labour) from Yardley; Liam Byrne (Labour) from Hodge Hill; Ayoub Khan (independent) from Perry Barr; Akhmed Yaqoob (independent) from Ladywood; Babar Raja and Muhammad Hafeez (independents) from Hall Green & Mosley; Nicola Payne (Green Party) from Edgbaston; Wajid Burkey (Workers Party of Britain) from Sutton Coldfield and Kamel Hawwash (independent) from Selly Oak.
