MUZAFFARABAD: District Magistrate Muzaffarabad, Munir Ahmed Qureshi, has imposed Section 144 across the district for a period of 10 days.
According to an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on June 20, 2026, information received from various sources indicates concerns that certain miscreants may exploit the ongoing political and social activities, which have been taking place since June 9, 2026, to create a situation that could threaten public order and national security.
The order states that, to prevent any potential untoward incidents, the District Magistrate has imposed a ban under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1898, on all forms of protests, sit-ins, rallies, processions, and public gatherings within the limits of Muzaffarabad district, effective from June 20, 2026.
