New Delhi/ Srinagar, (ONLINE): Illegally detained Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Masarrat Aalam Butt, vice Chairman Shabbir Ahmad Shah and other APHC leaders have extended heartfelt Eid greetings to the Muslims in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the world over on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Masarrat Aalam Butt and Shabbir Ahmad Shah in their messages from New Delhi’s notorious Tihar Jail asked well-off families of the territory to take care of the needy, especially families of martyrs who have scarified their lives to get their motherland freed from Indian slavery.
They also urged people to pray for the release of illegally detained Kashmiri political leaders, meted out ill-treatment in the Indian jails, adding these Kashmiri leaders are facing tremendous hardships and even basic healthcare is not available to them.
The leaders added that for the subjugated Kashmiris and all other oppressed people including Palestinians, real Eid is when they achieve complete freedom from illegal occupations.
Referring to the prevailing gloomy situation in Jammu and Kashmir, they said, the Kashmiri people have, so far, missed the real spirit of the auspicious occasion of the Muslim festival because of the iron-fist approach of the Modi regime towards the common people of the occupied territory.
They maintained that New Delhi had been using black laws and extrajudicial methods to suffocate the Kashmiris, however, the valiant Kashmiri people had continued to resist India’s brutality without letting their quest for freedom and dignity be subdued. They made it clear to India that the genuine freedom movements could not be suppressed through militaristic means.
The APHC leaders strongly condemned the repeated closure of Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid and other mosques and shrines by the authorities, and said not allowing congregational prayers on special occasions is deeply distressing and against the fundamental right to religious practice.
APHC leaders Abdul Samad Inqilabi and Mushtaqul Islam in their statement from jail and Zamrooda Habib in a statement in Srinagar said that the festival of Eid ul fitar, in essence, carries the life-giving message in which is hidden the true prosperity of humankind.
