Altaf Qadri appointed Convenor of Senate formation committee of KGC

Washington (PR) Kashmir Global Council president, Mr. Farooq Sidiqi, has appointed Altaf Qadri to act as Convenor of the Senate formation committee along with Mr. Qasim Khokhar as deputy convenor, until the time the board of directors confirms the appointment.

The outgoing convener Mufti Shawkat Farooqi ( Vice President) has served the organization with great deal of responsibility and diligence, which deserves a due recognition and appreciation. It was felt essential to keep up with the transition and rapidly changing political landscape in Kashmir and across the world. I am confident that Mr. Altaf Qadri will bring in a lot of experience, expertise, and fresh perspective into the role. It is time for India, Pakistan, and Kashmiris to contribute to the shared vision of freedom, peace, democracy and security to the region, which eludes us all for the past 76 years owing to the unresolved issue of Kashmir.

The formation of the Senate in India and Pakistan controlled Kashmir is not to be viewed a challenge to India and Pakistan and China but providing a grass root representative character to Kashmiris who have so far being denied voicing their aspiration democratically. Farooq Siddiqi said that we respect the sovereignty of both India and Pakistan as two nations ,however in tune with international community the sovereignty of India and Pakistan is sans Kashmir.

The Senate will be most noncontroversial, democratic, and inclusive in which every shade and color of the state is represented.

The aim of the Senate is not drawn with partisan politics and approach. But to empower the people of Kashmir in any decision making and Parleys that will be held at any reckoning time with respect to Kashmir.

I hope that both India and Pakistan and China will rise to the occasion and extend their cooperation to for the formation of Senate of Kashmir.
