Court fixes February 10 to indict Fawad Chaudhry in financial fraud case

ISLAMABAD, January 27 (Online): District and Sessions Court Islamabad has fixed February 10 to indict former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry in financial fraud case.

Civil Judge Muhammad Sohail heard the case Saturday.
Qaisar Imam and Mirza Asim Baig counsels for Fawad Chaudhry appeared in the court.

Judge remarked we start the proceedings of indictment today.

Counsel Qaisar Imam said I have taken the case just now. Time is required to see file.
Application for presenting Fawad Chaudhry without handcuffs in the court was filed.
The counsel said Fawad Chaudhry is lawyer of Supreme Court (SC). He has remained minister. He should not be handcuffed.

The counsel said Indian SC decision is there that the lawyer be not presented in handcuffs. He should not be handcuffed in court room. He is lawyer. Fawad Chaudhry is sometime presented handcuffed and some time with covered mouth. Fawad Chaudhry becomes headlines in media. He should not be presented handcuffed. This all is done to degrade him.

Judge remarked I see this matter. I will present different court’s decisions. The objective of handcuffing is to prevent the accused from fleeing. Handcuff is used in sub continent for degradation. Tomorrow Fawad Chajudhry will be representing us in assembly.

Judge remarked I will issue proper order after seeing this matter.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till February 10.
