After years of postponing marriage, schoolteacher Margaret decided that at fifty-two, it was time to give romance the same attention she gave her lesson plans.
Soon she met George, a charming widower who brought flowers, remembered her birthday, and never interrupted her.
On their fifth date, he leaned across the table.
“Margaret, how would you feel about waking up beside me every morning?”
She blushed. “That depends. Are you proposing marriage or testing my comprehension?”
“Marriage!” George laughed. “But I should warn you—I snore, leave socks on the floor, and occasionally forget what I’m told.”
Margaret considered this carefully.
“I’ve managed thirty children a day for twenty-seven years. I can handle one more.”
“So that’s a yes?”
“Yes,” she said, taking his hand. “But there will be a few changes.”
“Such as?”
“No sleeping during my conversations. No excuses about unfinished housework. And absolutely no wandering eyes.”
George grinned. “Will I at least get a little extra attention after class?”
Margaret smiled and moved closer.
“Behave yourself, darling… and for once in my career, I might reward bad behavior.”😂🤣
