The Father Who Was More Desperate for a Wedding Than His Daughters

A father was so eager to see his two adult daughters married that he brought up weddings at every family dinner.

One evening he sighed dramatically and said, “Girls, when I was your age, people were already married with children!”

The older daughter smiled and replied, “Dad, times have changed.”

The younger daughter added, “Besides, we’re being careful.”

“Careful about what?” asked Dad.

“Choosing the right husband,” said the older daughter.

Dad groaned. “At this rate, I’ll become a grandfather at ninety!”

The younger daughter winked and said, “Don’t worry, Dad. The way things are going, you’ll probably hear wedding bells before we do.”

“What does that mean?” he asked.

The older daughter laughed. “Last week you met three single women at the grocery store, and all of them asked if you were available.”

Dad nearly choked on his coffee.

The younger daughter grinned. “Face it, Dad. You may get married again before either of us does!”

Suddenly the family stopped discussing the daughters’ love lives and started teasing Dad about his. 😄
