After forty years of marriage, Frank decided to surprise his wife, Betty, with a romantic evening.
He booked a fancy restaurant, bought flowers, and put on the suit he usually reserved for weddings and arguments with the bank.
Betty looked him over.
“Who died?”
“Nobody! Can’t a man romance his beautiful wife?”
“Of course,” she said. “But usually yours waits until he’s broken something.”
At dinner, Frank reached across the table.
“Tonight, sweetheart, I want us to forget our age.”
“Wonderful. You forget yours first. Mine is already classified.”
After dessert, he leaned closer.
“When we get home, I’m going to carry you upstairs, just like on our wedding night.”
Betty immediately waved for the waiter.
“The bill, please! Quickly!”
Frank grinned. “That excited, are you?”
“No. I need to get home before you do.”
“Why?”
“So I can put cushions at the bottom of the stairs.”
“You don’t think I can carry you?”
“Frank, last week you pulled a muscle opening shredded cheese.”
At that moment, the waiter arrived with the bill.
Frank studied it, went pale, and whispered, “Good heavens!”
Betty patted his hand.
“There’s my wedding-night man.”
“Handsome and passionate?”
“No. Shocked by how much this was going to cost him.”😂🤣
