At a Mexican American family barbecue in Texas, Abuela Rosa cornered her grown grandson, Diego.
“You bring Sofia to every cookout. When are you finally going to marry that lovely girl?”
“Abuela, I’m waiting until I’m financially stable.”
Rosa waved a tortilla at him. “Your grandfather married me with twelve dollars and a borrowed suit!”
Grandpa looked up from the grill. “And she’s been collecting the balance ever since.”
Sofia laughed. “Actually, I’ve already told Diego what I want: a small wedding, a little house, and a husband who brings me breakfast in bed.”
Diego grinned. “See? She’s reasonable!”
Grandpa quietly pulled him aside.
“Marry her, son.”
“Because she’s a keeper?”
“Because you’ve been borrowing my truck for your dates for two years.”
Then Grandma called from the patio, “And make it a Saturday wedding!”
“Why Saturday?” Diego asked.
“So she can start training you on Sunday. Your grandfather’s available for demonstrations—he still gets the laundry wrong.”😂🤣
