Talks with TTP have failed: Sheikh Rashid

ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 (Online): Interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have failed and the terrorists who are under the influence of India and anti Pakistan forces are active in Pakistan at present and steps have been taken to deal with them.

“No one will be allowed to undermine the peace in Pakistan”, he said this while addressing Senate committee for interior here Friday.

Committee met under its chairman Senator Mohsin Aziz while interior minister Sheikh Rashid and officers of interior ministry attended the meeting Friday.

Sheikh Rashid told the committee while giving them briefing over Balochistan situation that the terrorists who were involved in terror incidents in Pakistan had their links with India and Afghanistan. Terrorists can indulge in terror acts anywhere in the country.

Directives have been issued to all chief secretaries to keep the forces alert.

Fateha was offered for the jawans of security forces who were martyred in Noshki and Panjgor.

Sheikh Rashid told the committee talks were initiated with TTP through Afghan Taliban and Taliban made their best efforts that TTP should settle matters with Pakistan. But TTP is not ready to go back from their conditions.

Terrorists who were involved in Balochistan terror incident were in live contact with their masters through whatsapp.

The talks with TTP could not move forward as their conditions were such which were not acceptable, he remarked.

These people are present in the border areas of Afghanistan, he indicated. Several groups of TTP assembled perhaps. 2 TTP terrorists were killed in Islamabad.

Our people have still gone for talks with TTP, he said adding but talks could not go ahead.

The communication which was seized in yesterday incidents, these people were in contact with India and Afghanistan therein, he pointed out.
Our 7 men including a major embraced shahadat in this incident, he stated.

TTP itself ended ceasefire agreement, he pointed out. TTP conditions are not acceptable to our government. Just now our people have gone but indications are there that talks will not succeed. TTP is sticking to its conditions still.

If provincial government requests then we can suspend internet service of respective area, he remarked. Interior ministry cannot suspend the communication of any area on its own.

Talking to media men he said Ashraf Ghani is not in Afghanistan. But disciples of Ashraf Ghani, RAW and India are present.

He underscored the enemy country spares no chance to harm Pakistan. Enemy country wants to deteriorate law and order situation in the country, he added.

Our relations with Taliban are very good, he said adding Prime Minister Imran Khan is making efforts everywhere that Taliban should be helped.
