Supreme Court accepts bail plea of accused in blasphemy case

ISLAMABAD, June 01 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has accepted bail plea of one Muhammad Ashraf accused in blasphemy case.

A two members bench of SC presided over by Justice Qazi Faez Isa took up for hearing the petition filed by Muhammad Ashraf accused in blasphemy case seeking bail after arrest Wednesday.

The counsel for the accused Muhammad Ashraf took the plea that his client is charged with making tawaf of a local shrine in Shuja Abad. My client is 65 years old.

Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked police became plaintiff in this case. How police became plaintiff in this case. Police job is providing security. As to why police personal registered case after five days. Such acts lead to malign state. Does prosecution want to contest this case or want to withdraw it?

The court while accepting bail plea of the accused Muhammad Ashraf due to lack of interest by prosecution in the case wrapped up the matter.
