SC orders for acquitting 3 accused in kidnapping for ransom case

ISLAMABAD, Sep 20 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) while giving benefit of doubt to 3 accused in kidnapping for ransom case has ordered to acquit them after 18 years.

The accused are Abdul Wahab, Zahir Ahmad and Waris Ali.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood took up the case for hearing Monday.

The counsel for the accused took the plea the identification parade of the accused was not held in the jail. The petitioner identified the accused in the court. The accused were charged with kidnapping a child Moid, 8 from Lahore in 2005. The anti terrorism court had awarded life imprisonment to 5 accused persons.

Lahore High Court while acquitting 2 accused in appeal plea had upheld the life imprisonment of 3 accused.

The court while giving the benefit of 3 accused has issued order for releasing the 3 accused.
