ISLAMABAD, Feb 03 (Online): Senator Irfan Siddiqui, PML-N senior leader and right hand of former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has said former army chief Gen Rahil Sharif himself requested Nawaz Sharif for extension in his service tenure.
“hurdles were created on every step for not granting extension. Nawaz Sharif made consultations with everyone on the appointment of sitting army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa. However his own decision was final decision”, he said this in an exclusive interview with Online here Thursday.
He wernt on to say every institution should work within the set constitutional and legal parameters. Betterment of the country lies in it. Those who ambush the constitution are not held in esteem in army too.
He went on to say people go to the shrines of the martyrs today too but no one goes to the graves of dictators.

During Musharraf regime Nawaz Sharif sent an application to the then presidnet Rafiq Tarar that he had gone to Jeddah on his signatures.

Late Mian Sharif, father of Mian Nawaz Sharif asked the presidnet Tarar not to resign and continue to work.
Pervez Musharraf was to go to India in 2001 and he sent message to the then presidnet Rafiq Tarar that he should invite him to dinner at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Pervez Musharraf, Gen Mehmood, secretary Tariq Aziz and two other generals attended the meal. After having meal the four generals demanded resignation from presidnet Tarar. Upon it the presidnt said “I can send my resignation to the speaker constitutionally but assemblies do not exist.
He continued “ upon it Gen Mehmood said he should tender his resignation to chief executive.
President Tarar said your chief executive and you all are under my subordination therefore, I will not resign.
On the next day Musharraf relieved the president Tarar through an order in defiance of law and constitution and he himself became president. Later he went to India as a president.
To a qeusiton about induciton of Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa as army chief he said appointing Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa as army chief was Nawaz Sharif own decision. He made consultations with all including me. But whenever Nawaz Sharif takes any decision he keeps it secret.
He held Mian Nawaz Sharif cannot stay away from the country and he is passing every moment in agony. The entire world is in the grip of epidemic now. He is receving treatment. As soon as his treatment ends he will return to Pakistan.
Our rulers have mortgaged the country in return for one billion dollars, he added.
We should go for self accountability. The survival of this county lies in it that it should be run as per constitutionl, he stressed.
