Proceedings for indictment of PTI leaders including Col (Retd) Ajmal Sabir adjourned in May 9 incident related case

RAWALPINDI, April 23 (Online): Proceedings for indictment of PTI leaders Col (Retd) Ajmal Sabir, former deputy speaker Punjab Assembly (PA) Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Umar Tanvir Butt and others in the case for staging violent demonstration against arrest of PTI founder, siege and arson , attack on police personnel and destruction of state property.

Judge Malik Ijaz Asif adjourned the proceedings of indictment against PTI leaders till May 14.
On the other hand the court has issued notice to the respondents and sought record of the case on May 14 in connection with acquittal plea filed by chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid and his nephew

Sheikh Rashid and his nephew Rashid Shafiq appeared in the court along with their lawyers Sardar Abdul Razzaq Khan and Sardar Shahbaz Khan advocate .

Their counsels filed acquittal plea in the cases registered against them in Police stations Cantt, Morgah and Taxila.

The court after preliminary hearing issued notices to the respondents and sought record of cases on May 14.

The court adjourned the hearing of May 9 cases till May 14 after signing of their roll by the accused including PTI leader Col (Retd) Ajmal Sabir, Umar Tanvir Butt, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi and others. These accused were nominated in these cases.

Copies of challan were distributed among 59 accused in the case by the court.

The accused were to be indicted on Tuesday. However the court adjourned indictment proceedings till May 14.
