PM stresses to sort out Russia-Ukraine tension through dialogue: Foreign secretary

ISLAMABAD March 16 (Online): Foreign secretary Sohail Mehmood told Senate Standing committee in briefing on Prime Minister’s (PM) Russian visit, that PM emphasized on dialogue to solve their issues with Ukraine.

He told that PM’s has been invited by Russia twice before that but the visit could not take place due to COVID-19.

Many country heads visited Russia recently and Russian Ukraine tension escalated since February and chances of war were rare.

He told that 1558 Pakistani students have been evacuated from Ukraine on vehicle through Poland but 15 to 20 are still in Ukraine and few of them are in jails.

The meeting between Russian president and Prime minister continued for three and half an hour, told Foreign Secretary.

Foreign secretary told that the energy was an important agenda to discuss with Russia. Islamophobia was also a part of agenda during the visit: Said Sohial.

Foreign secretary noted that Pakistan permanent representative to UN stressed on addressing the matter in befitting manner.
