Pakistan graciously assisted in relief activites, Turkish Ambassador

Islamabad, Feb 21 (Online): Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Pacaci has said that Pakistan stands with Turkiye, the only agenda of every Pakistani household is to help the earthquake victims in Turkiye, very soon country will move towards rehabilitation.

Pakistani rescue authorities saved a 10-year-old child alive after 137 hours; Pakistan Army also played a key role in saving the lives of many people.

He expressed these views in a press conference at the Turkish Embassy. While addressing, he said that a devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck Turkey on February 6 in the morning, another earthquake of magnitude 7.6 occurred 9 hours after the first earthquake.

Turkish diplomat informed that 11 provinces and 13 million people were severely affected by the earthquake.

The recent earthquake in Turkiye after the last century was extremely destructive and unusual, more than 41 thousand people have been martyred in Turkiye, last day there was also an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 in which 6 people died.

Overall 250 thousand relief workers are currently, busy in rescue and relief work in the earthquake affected areas, so far 102 countries have offered assistance, 59 countries have offered assistance in the earthquake affected areas.

5,000 search and rescue experts are helping in the relief work in Turkey.

The foreign minister visited the Turkish Embassy, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the most affected by the earthquake, Adyaman province, the teams of Pakistan Army, NDMA and Rescue 1122 are performing key services in the earthquake affected areas, he said.

Pakistan Army has played a key role in saving the lives of many people, the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Pakistan Red Crescent have opened an account to collect aid, and the National University of Science and Technology has also opened an account to collect aid money.

The delivery of aid from Pakistan to Turkey is continuing rapidly, NDMA has so far sent 4,000 tents, 8,000 blankets by air, Pakistan has sent 3,000 tents, 25,000 blankets to Turkiye by road.

Pakistan has dispatched aid to Turkiye by rail, air, sea and road. Next week, a special cargo ship carrying 4 thousand more blankets will arrive from Pakistan.

The Pakistan Navy ship will soon leave for Turkiye with 3,500 tents by sea from Karachi.

Pakistan is the largest tent-making country in the world. Civilian and aid teams first reached quake-hit areas, Pakistani rescue teams save 28 precious lives, Pakistani rescues 10-year-old child after 137 hours Red Crescent is doing key work, aid is going to Turkey from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, Turkish Embassy is receiving calls from every corner of Pakistan, condolence is being expressed.
