Islamabad: Pakistan has condemned threats issued by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping in the Red Sea, while reaffirming its unwavering support for the kingdom’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said that threats against Saudi Arabia and commercial vessels were unacceptable, warning that any threat to Pakistani-flagged ships would be considered a threat to Pakistan’s national security.
Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary and lawful measures to defend its maritime interests, the spokesperson added.
The Foreign Office called for the safety of maritime navigation in the Red Sea to be ensured and for the uninterrupted flow of global trade to be protected.
Pakistan also urged all parties to respect international law and take steps to de-escalate regional tensions.
