LAHORE, Feb 22 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) while suspending notification related to fixation of prices of medicines has sought reply from caretaker Punjab government and other respondents on next hearing.
The notification regarding determination of prices of medicines was challenged in LHC.
A citizen, Muhammad Aslam had filed petition making federal government and others respondents.
The citizen had taken plea in the petition that caretaker government issued notification contrary to law for fixation of prices of medicines. The prices of medicines will go up after notification.
It was further said in the notification that government is removing the section of fixing prices of medicines from drug act. The care taker government is not authorized to do it. Democratic government is coming and this step can be taken by it only.
The petitioner requested that the existing notification is against law and constitution. The court should order to suspend it till final decision. Justice Shahid Karim heard the case Thursday.
Nadim Sarwar advocate gave arguments on behalf of the petitioner.
Later the court while accepting the plea of the citizen suspended the notification regarding fixation of prices of the medicines.
The court sought reply from caretaker Punjab government and other respondents on next hearing.
