Judges letter suo motu notice: SC indicates for constitution of full court

ISLAMABAD, April 03 (ONLINE): Supreme Court (SC) during the hearing of suomotu notice with reference to letter from 6 judges of Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given indication for constitution of full court.

The court has remarked non availability of judges was the reason for not forming full court as some judges were in Lahore and some were in Karachi. May be full court is constituted on next hearing. The hearing will take place on day to day basis.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till April29.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa remarked ” I gave clear message during meeting with the Prime Minister (PM) that there will be no compromise on independence of judiciary. I am standing with my judges. What mistakes were committed in previous cases we admitted them. We tried to rectify it what injustice was done to former judge. We cannot close our eyes. Too much is happening. Judges too want inquiry is held. If some thing happens in my tenure I will not tolerate it.
On one side there is parliament, on other side there is president and on third side there is government. We respect all and expect respect from all of them.

Justice Athar Minullah remarked this all is running since 2017.Past be not opened. It is correct political engineering was done and perhaps court was too involved. This letter of judges tell that it is still continuing.

Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan remarked government is violating courts decisions by taking shelter of MPOs.

A seven-judge larger bench of SC headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, on Wednesday heard the suo moto case of six IHC judges’ letter alleging meddling in judicial affairs.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Musarrat Hilali, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan are also part of the bench.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 29.
