ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is all set to decide fate of NA-75 by elections today (Tuesday).
A senior official of ECP told The Nation that the Commission will either announce final results of NA-75 by-election or will order re-polling at 20 polling stations in the constituency.
The official further said that the Commission will first have a detailed look into the final report on the incident which took place during00 by-election in NA-75 constituency and will then announce its final decision. Answering a question, the official said that re-polling at several polling stations was also an option, but the final decision will be announced today (Tuesday).
The official further said that ECP was committed to announce results completely on merit; saying that currently election commission was under pressure from all sides but will never let anyone to interfere in its legal and constitutional powers.
Meanwhile, a five-member bench headed by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) is all set to hear the case regarding controversial Daska by-election.
The commission for the hearing has summoned returning officer to appear before the ECP.
The commission has also sent notice to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Nausheen Iftikhar to appear before the commission in order to advance her arguments to the bench.
It must be noted that the presiding officer will inform the commission of the final progress report of the incident happened in Daska elections.
It must be noted that ECP earlier had halted final results of NA-75 as some of the presiding officers were allegedly kidnapped in order to manipulate the election results.
On the other hand, both the ruling party and PML-N have claimed their victories and have been blaming each other for stealing the votes.
