First Pakistani woman astronaut Namira Saleem reached America for space travel

KARACHI Oct 01 (Online) Namira Saleem, the first female astronaut from Pakistan, South Asia and the Commonwealth of Nations, has arrived in the US to travel in space aboard the Virgin Galactic commercial space liner.

Pakistan’s first woman astronaut Namira Saleem arrived in Dallas, Texas from Karachi, from where she will travel to space on October 5.

On this occasion Namira Salim said that I am very grateful that my country has supported me so much, I will carry the flag of Pakistan in space with great pride.

Galactic 04 mission of Galactic Commercial Space Liner will depart from Spaceport America in New Mexico on October 5.

Dubai-based Namira Saleem is the first Pakistani woman to hoist the Pakistani flag at the North Pole in 2007 and at the South Pole in 2008.

It should be noted that Virgin Galactic succeeded in taking the first commercial flight to space in late June 2023, but this flight carried experts from Italy instead of ordinary tourists. Later in August and In September, the company launched the first space flight for tourists.

Namira Salim will also be present in the upcoming mission of this company.

On this mission, 3 tourists will travel along with Namira Salim who will be present in the cabin of the company’s VSS Unity spacecraft.

Namira Salim is among the first 100 people to buy tickets for the space tourism of this American company.

It should be noted that the Government of Pakistan declared Namira Saleem as the first Pakistani astronaut in 2006 and in 2011; she was awarded the Medal of Distinction.
