Islamabad-ASC Iqbal Team clinched the 117th MP Bhandara Memorial Polo Cup after beating PAF team by a narrow margin of 6-5½ in the final played in Rawalpindi.
The historical MP Bhandara Memorial Polo Tournament, which was first played in 1904, was participated by eight teams. All the teams played well throughout the tournament and after a tough contest, ASC Iqbal and PAF teams managed to make way to the final and after a tough battle, ASC Iqbal team succeeded in clinching the coveted trophy.
Ambassador of Sweden, HE Henrick Persson graced the occasion as chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners. He also appreciated the efforts of the Murree Brewery team for the promotion sports.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Murree Brewery Company Isphanyar Bhandara said: “Sports help in developing mental and physical abilities of the youth. They build their character along with improving patience and courage in their personalities, because self-confidence in a person can play an important role in the country’s development. Our players are assets of the nation and play an important role in promoting sports for the formation of a healthy society.
