Illegal cigarette’s trade rising alarmingly

ISLAMABAD – June 7 (ONLINE) A report has revealed that illegal trade of different brands of cigarettes is causing a 70-80 billion rupees’ loss to national exchequer, Online has learnt.

According to details, minimum legal price of a cigarette packet is 62.80 rupees, but some cigarette brands are selling for even 15 rupees per packet.

More than 200 brands are not even registered and hence illegal share for cigarettes’ trade has risen up to 40 percent in the market. The Pakistan Tobacco Company has urged government to legalize the business completely and ensure the registration of un-registered brands.
