LAHORE 04 June (Online): At the star-studded 2023 IIFA Awards, the spotlight shone on Babil Khan, son of the late acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan, as he revealed his guilty pleasure during a candid interaction with reporters. Babil, accompanied by his mother, Sudapa Sikdar, found himself struggling to remember the ‘intense’ watch that has him and his mother captivated.
The reporters, intrigued by Babil’s response, decided to seek confirmation from a familiar face in the entertainment industry who happened to be present at the event. It was none other than Nabila, a renowned stylist and makeup artist, who made an appearance in the video. Babil, in a friendly manner, greeted and introduced himself to Nabila.
When questioned, an excited Babil stated, “Oh, my guilty pleasure! My mother watches these Pakistani serials. Like, really intense ones.” Struggling to remember, he calls out to Sudapa, who is busy talking to someone. The reporter interjects, saying, ‘Nabila is here, she will help you.’
However, before Nabila could provide an answer, Babil’s mother, whose arrival coincided with the interaction, stepped in to confirm the name of the show. The atmosphere brimmed with curiosity as fans and media awaited her response. She affirmed that the show Babil and she enjoy watching together is none other than the divisive Pakistani drama Tere Bin.
Tere Bin is a popular Pakistani show that has captivated, but also divided audiences of late, with its storyline and performances. Starring Yumna Zaidi and Wahaj Ali, the series revolves around complex relationships and showcases the trials and tribulations faced by its characters.
Recently, the show was in the news due to its irking Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA). The drama created uproar on social media after a clickbait promo hinted at marital rape between Murtasim (Wahaj) and Meerab (Yumna). However, due to heavy backlash, the episode was allegedly edited with “Whatsapp Quality” voiceovers. The haunting visuals, however, were still there and PEMRA has now issued an official warning against it.
Babil’s revelation of his guilty pleasure not only showcased his love for Pakistani content but also emphasized the power of storytelling that transcends borders. While the video itself is highly chaotic, it also sheds light on how pure and honest the revelation was. The exchange highlighted that art does, indeed, transcend borders.
