Condolence reference held at UAF for Dr Syed Hasan Mujtaba Naqvi

FAISALABAD, Nov 25 (APP):University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) organized a condolence reference to pay tribute for the meritorious services of late Dr Syed Hasan Mujtaba Naqvi, former Director General (DG) Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB) and National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetics Engineering (NIBGE).

President Pakistan Academy of Sciences Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood chaired the ceremony held at new senate hall UAF and said that Dr Syed Hasan Mujtaba had served the humanity with noble cause of increase in agri productivity for development of agriculture sector. His contributions for agri sector were unmatchable in term of tangible research work and new varieties. Due to his endeavors, NIAB got the first gold medal in the field of agriculture during his tenure, he added.

Vice Chancellor UAF Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that Dr Syed Hasan Mujtaba was born in 1936 in Muradabad India. He was a recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his valuable research work for the cause of food security in the country. He made contribution in the development of different crops such as cotton varieties including NIAB-78, NIAB-98 and Krishma that had brought revolution, he added.

Dr Iqrar further said that Dr Syed Hasan Mujtaba passed matriculated in 1951 from Amroha, District Muradabad UP India.燞e clinched the good marks in FSc (Pre Medical) from Muslim University Aligarh, India and graduated from Peshawar University in 1957,MSc (Chemistry) form Peshawar University in 1960 with distinction and PhD from University of Edinburg in 1964.

President Bank of Punjab Zafar Masud, Dr Kausar Abdullah Malik, Vice Chancellor Arid Agriculture Rawalpindi Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman, Principal Officer PRP Dr Jalal Arif, Dr Asif Kamran, Dr Rakhsanda, Dr Farooq Azam, Dr Ahsanul Haq, Dr Yousuf Saleem, Dr Zahid Mukhtar, Dr Uzma, Dr Aslam Pervez, Dr Qamar Naqvi and others also spoke on the occasion.
