Collaborative efforts imperative for solving Agri sector problems: Vice Chancellor University of Agriculture Faisalabad

FAISALABAD, Dec 31 (APP): University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said on Friday that the collaborative efforts on the part of agriculture researchers are imperative to provide tangible solution for problems of agriculture sector and ensure food security.

While addressing the closing-ceremony of Capacity Building and Professional Development Workshop (CB&PDW) arranged by the Directorate of Academics and Teaching Resource Centre, UAF, he said that workshops were being organised on a regular basis to enhance the capacity building of teaching and non-teaching staff, so that the affairs of the university could be run efficiently.

The VC said that research work should be carried out keeping the problems of the farmers in view in order to enhance yield and make agriculture a profitable sector.

He said that all-out efforts were being made to bring the programmes at UAF in line with the international standards. He urged the agricultural scientists to find local solutions to the problems of the farmers keeping in view the ground realities. “To make the dream of development come true, knowledge-based economy is the need of the hour, he added. Prof Dr Iqrar said that: “the UAF has the honor of being at the forefront of agricultural education.”

He said that despite being an agricultural country, agricultural commodities worth billions of rupees were being imported which is a matter of grave concern.

He directed all the departments of the university to map-out a strategy for the development of the university keeping in view their weaknesses and strengths. He said that conducive environment was being provided in the UAF to solve the staff problem and improve their efficiency.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Anas Sarwar Qureshi, Prof Dr Masood Sadiq Butt, Prof Dr Asghar Bajwa, Prof Dr Sarfraz Hassan, Prof Dr Amanullah Malik, Prof Dr Aslam Mirza, Dr Muhammad Irshad and Dr Babar Shahbaz also spoke.
