Japanes CG for promotion of Pak-Japan trade

KARACHI, Sep 07 (APP):Japanese Consul General in Karachi Isomura Toshikazu has emphasized to increase all possible steps for trade between Japan and Pakistan to attract more Japanese investment as it is very low against the potential.

“There was a plan to hold Pakistani exhibitions in Japan through out the year. If Pakistani investors and industrialists take interest, I would personally recommend them to Japanese companies for all possible cooperation. The two countries would exchange trade delegations once COVID-19 situation improved and travel restrictions were lifted”, he said during his visit to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry.

According to the KATI statement issued here on Tuesday, KATI President Saleem-uz-Zaman, Senior Vice President Zaki Sharif, Vice President Nighat Awan, Chairman of the Committee on Diplomatic Affairs Rashid Siddiqui, former president Masood Naqi, Ehteshamuddin, Farrukh Mazhar, Johar Qandhari and Economic Adviser to the Japanese Consul General, Okamoto Yu were also present.

Japanese Consul General said Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) determined the investment in Pakistan, if Pakistani industrialists sent proposals they would be provided with all possible facilities and guidance.
Pakistani products should be promoted in the Japanese market there was big room available. Japan was also importing basmati rice and soap from Pakistan.

Isomura Toshikazu said,” if exporters from Pakistan contact me for promotion of other products including fish, I will personally help them”.
CG said he had always told Japanese companies that Pakistan and Afghanistan were huge markets with a total population of 250 million, they should concentrate on them.

Earlier, KATI President Saleem-uz-Zaman said that volume of trade with Japan was very low and joint efforts were needed to increase it. Fortunately, Japan and Pakistan were not much affected by COVID-19.
President KATI said that 85 Japanese companies were successfully operating in Pakistan and more could invest in differne sectors and earn big profits.
He said,” we are not interested in any aid or financial assistance from Japan but in transfer of technology and vocational training from Japan.”

KATI’s Chairman of Committee on Diplomatic Affairs, Rashid Siddiqui, proposed that separate single country exhibitions should be organized in Pakistan and Japan so that investors of both the countries could take advantage of the opportunities available on both sides.
