ISLAMABAD, Aug 29 (Online): FPCCI’s Presidential candidate Atif Ikram Sheikh on Monday said the government lacked resources to deal with the disaster and it cannot rehabilitate affected people and damaged infrastructure on its own.
Other countries and international organizations should cooperate with Pakistan to enable it to deal with the rehabilitation of victims and overcome losses resulting from the natural disasters, he said.
Atif Ikram Sheikh said that the government should attract foreign investors to reconstruct the damaged infrastructure.
Talking to the business community, the business leader said that rules for foreign investment should be eased, the security of investors should be ensured and the overall investment environment should be improved.
Public-private partnerships should also be considered to rebuild damaged roads, bridges, railway lines, dams, government offices, communication systems and houses, he underlined.
Apart from this, health, education and drinking water facilities should be provided in the affected areas.
