ISLAMABAD, April 06 (Online): The electricity tariff has been increased more than 50 percent in 1 year.
As per details the tariff was increased under Fuel Adjustment Surcharges (FAS) during 1 year.
According to NEPRA documents, the electricity has been made expensive in respect of fuel adjustment and surcharges.
The basic electricity tariff was increased by 10 rupees per unit.
The electricity tariff of domestic consumers has been increased by 50 percent.
According to documents, the electricity rates for domestic consumers were increased by 8 rupees 50 paisa.
By that the tariff of consumers has been increased from 18.04 rupees to 26.54 rupees.
On the other hand, the electricity tariff of commercial consumers has increased by 11 rupees per unit.
The electricity tariff of industrial consumers has been increased by 9 rupees 55 paisa per unit.
9 rupees and 14 paisa per unit has been increased in tariff of agricultural consumers.
According to NEPRA documents, the price of energy has been increased from 665 billion to 1152 billion.
The capacity charges have been increased from 794 billion to 1251 billion.
Cost of electricity production has been increased by 22 percent while collective production cost has been increased from 1515 billion to 2518.
