LONDON (PNI) Veteran Kashmiri activists, philanthropists and volunteers were awarded for their outstanding services at a function in London, the capital of the UK.
At a function hosted by Sarah Qayoum chairperson Muslim Rose Welfare, a London-based charity organization, saw several Kashmiri activists and volunteers felicitated for their work.
Raja Sikandar Khan, chairman Global Pak Kashmir Supreme Council, chaired the function held in Southhall area of West London.
Muhammad Zahid Raja, Chief Executive of Bridging Gaps Fostering Agency Slough a prominent Pakistani-British philanthropist was chief guest on the occasion.
Qayoum and Khan acknowledged the work of activists and volunteers as “they work for humanity without any personal gains.”
Raja Fahim Kayani, president of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK and also a pioneer of Kashmir Virtual Diplomacy, was awarded for outstanding work in the community and for Kashmir and Pakistan.
Kayani, who was guest of honor at the occasion, is also Co-Founder of Aghosh UK.
The hosts and participants applauded Kayani for his services to Kashmir and charitable work during 2005 earthquake in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan floods 2022.
After Qayoum briefed the participants about her organization’s work including in remote areas of Sindh in Pakistan, especially Tharpakur, Khan thanked and appreciated human rights activists, workers of relief agencies and community leaders for their work and support during COVID-19 in the UK and deadly floods in Pakistan.
Khan said the overseas Pakistanis “always play a great role in support of charitable work in Pakistan.”
Besides Kayani, several others including Muhammad Zahid Raja were awarded for their services.
Dalawar Chaudhary was awarded for hospitality work due to his business in catering, Kala Khan, president Global Pak-Kashmir Supreme Council, was awarded for his humanitarian services, Sajid Khan was awarded for hospitality and humanitarian services, Raja Ejaz Mahmood was awarded for his services to the community, Sardar Shafquat Khan, president UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UKPCCI), was awarded for his services to Business community.
In a joint statement Qayoum and Raja Sikandar Khan, said: “Pakistan is going through a difficult time more that 30 million flood victims are looking towards to overseas Pakistanis and it is our moral responsibility to help them.”
