India, 10 years since the Muzaffarnagar riots

MUZAFFARNAGAR Aug 27 (Online): It has been ten years since the Muzaffarnagar riots, by giving a religious color to a minor motorcycle accident, extremist Hindus played with the blood of Muslims for 20 days.

During the riots, hundreds of Muslims were martyred and injured, while fifty more than a thousand were displaced.

On August 27, 2013, hundreds of Muslims were martyred by extremist Hindus in the Muzaffarnagar district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Giving a religious color to the minor motorcycle accident, the extremist Hindus played with the blood of Muslims for 20 days.

Hundreds of Muslims were martyred and injured during the riots, while more than fifty thousand were displaced, the Indian Supreme Court held the central and state governments directly responsible for the riots.

Justice Vishnu Sahai Commission held BJP and Samajwadi Party responsible for the riots, according to India Today BJP leader Sangeet Som posted fake videos on social media during the riots and incited extremist Hindus to violence, 2022 BJP leader Vikram Singh was also sentenced to two years in jail for his role in the riots.
