IHC declares contempt of court plea against IG Islamabad maintainable

ISLAMABAD, SEP 16 (ONLINE): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared contempt of court plea against IG Islamabad on re-arrest of Pervaiz Elahi non maintainable

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri issued the written order of dismissing the contempt of court petition against IG Islamabad Nasir Akbar Khan.

It has been said in the court’s decision Pervaiz Elahi was arrested on September 01 on the detention order by district magistrate Islamabad. High court suspended detention order on September 5 and ordered for immediate release of Pervaiz Elahi.

Justice Tariq Jahangiri said in his order directive was issued to send the copy of order of release to respective institutions.

As per Advocate General Islamabad Pervaiz Elahi was released by implementing the orders of court.

It has been said in IHC decision that according to lawyer, CTD arrested Petitioner again from police lines gate.

According to lawyer arrest was made in violation of Lahore High Court orders.

According to court’s decision Lahore high court has issued notice to Islamabad police and administration on contempt of court petition.

The counsels for Pervaiz Elahi could not satisfy how order of this court was violated. Therefore, the contempt of court plea against IG Islamabad is declared non-maintainable.
