ISLAMABAD, January 01 (Online): Election Appellate Tribunal (EAT) Islamabad has issued notice to the respondents on appeal plea filed against the acceptance of nomination papers of a eunuch.
EAT has issued notice to Returning officer (RO) and eunuch candidate Nayab Ali.
The counsel for the appellant said the nomination papers of Nayab Ali were in the process of scrutiny. When objections were raised the RO rejected the objections and accepted the nomination papers. Therefore we resorted to EAT.
The counsel said has been written in the column of gender
on the national identity card of Nayab Ali instead of male or female.
NADRA has suspended national identity cards of eunuchs in the light of court’s orders.
It has been said in the appeal that Nayab Ali has concealed information about his gender who was declared male by Federal Shariat court.
The candidate while filing nomination papers did not tell about his sources of income.
It has been requested in the appeal the nomination papers filed for NA-46, 47 be rejected.
The election tribunal while issuing notice to the respondents has sought reply till Monday.
