KARACHI Aug 31 (Online): Federal Board of Revenue has frozen 13 bank accounts of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) in Thursday.
According to a media report, FIBR officials said that action was taken on non-payment of federal excise duty of Rs.8 billion.
The bank account linked to Ayata will also be frozen.
Officials further said that it has been decided to register a case against the PIA officials for not submitting the (Federal Excise Duty) FED. The dues were not submitted, even though the accounts were opened last month.
It should be remembered that last month also FBR had frozen the accounts of PIA, FBR had taken action on non-payment of dues.
Similarly, last year also 53 accounts of PIA were frozen for non-payment of dues. While this month, the previous government of PDM decided to privatize PIA and Roosevelt Hotel, the Cabinet Committee on Privatization approved appointment of a financial advisor for the privatization of Roosevelt Hotel in the meeting.
Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited was also approved to be included in the privatization list on the recommendation of the Privatization Commission.
